Finally!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:47 pm by mittenknitter

I am finally finished with the little blue sweater and booties!  They will be gifted tomorrow and I could not be more excited to be done with blue yarn for a while.  I really did enjoy knitting the sweater and booties.  I am not a big fan of seaming and weaving in ends, but as time goes, I hope to get better.  This little sweater was knit with a lot of love and prayers.  I hope this baby understand how special he is!

A Little Pick-Me Up

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:57 pm by mittenknitter

I just needed to finish something to give myself a boost.  So cast this little hat on last night and had it finished this morning after breakfast.  It is the baby hat from “One Skein.”  I am going to try to make a little matching pair of booties or socks.  Any pattern suggestions?

Why do I Torture Myself?!?!

Meet my new knitting tote to carry my works in progress:

The two things that bit me in the butt…the zipper and those silly curved side panels.  I hit myself in the head once…I guess trying to knock some sense into myself!  But it is done and it is functional.  Now I have two more totes (one bigger & one smaller) cut out and ready to be sewn, but they are on hold until I forget how stupid I am to want to sew these bags!

Anxiety Attack!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:28 pm by mittenknitter

Where to start…

I (and my Momma, Robin) met up with some extremely cool Get Stitchy! gals today, Karen & Sarah Lou.  They were rockin’ out some gorgeous socks!  We all met at Threadbear in Lansing, which I might mention needs to invest in a larger (read: visible from the road) sign!  I actually had two projects in mind that I needed yarn for….didn’t help the process much.  I walked in and was completely overwhelmed with the massive selection and proceeded to feel clammy and anxiety was taking over.  At any rate, it was fun to just sit and watch everyone knit after I purchased my fiber goodies.

I have started my Rusted Root sweater (yarn:  Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Terracotta Canyon)…I am so in love with this sweater!  But I think I need to lay it aside for just a bit (maybe just tonight?) so I can get started on those little boy blue sweaters.  I am hoping to have enough yarn left over to make a matching pair of socks to go with the sweaters.  I am also hoping to crank out an elephant and maybe at least one of his safari friends.

Ok, so I’ve gone a little link happy with this post!  I will leave you with a picture of my Rusted Root progress:

On The Line

The felted bag is done!  It is hanging to dry now, then I will shave it and gift it on Saturday.  This was a fun little knit and I loved the yarn!

Pluggin’ Along!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:03 pm by mittenknitter

I have the knitting all done of my kool aid felted purse.  I meant to link to the pattern tonight, but left the link in the other room….perhaps another time.  This bag was actually fun to knit, unlike my last project.  I think knitting with yarn you’ve prepared yourself helps with the motivation factor.  I am always excited and anxious to see how the colors will pool.  All that is left to do is graft the handle to the other side and then felt.  I am so addicted to felting!

On another note, I’ve decided to start making an effort to attend drop in knitting at a local shop each Thursday night.  This will give my knitting undivided attention without the interference of toddler hands and kitty paws!  My goal is to start and finish my Rusted Root top in the month of July with the help and motivation of the KAL at Get Stitchy! and the drop in knitting time.

Not Quite…

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:35 pm by mittenknitter

Well, due to the fact that my San Francisco trip was a whirlwind affair, I took advantage of flight time by sleeping….no knitting!  But I did kick it into high gear when I got back….busted out two projects in one day.  The dreaded dream swatch is done.  What a boring knit!

I used South West Trading Company 100% Bamboo yarn

I am also almost done with the pink baby sweater…it just needs to have it’s ends weaved in and some sort of buttons/snaps put on. No rush on that…the persons I made it for both found out they are having BOYS! So I should add boy items to my to-do list.

Onto the Rusted Root top!

Now that I’ve got my sidebar issue fixed, I am ready to rock n roll!   Just in time for my weekend away to San Francisco!  I hope to come back with at least one FO!

Brand New

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:34 pm by mittenknitter

Uhh….I feel like a big doof right now!  I am just trying to figure out how to get this all set up to work to my advantage.  I really just want to set up some silly little progress bars on the side there.

edit:  Okay, so I got some progress established, but now the text is wrapping and I don’t want it to do that.  Oye!
